If tomorrow morning I had to go back (school bags and paper cards), I think I would cry all the tears of my body! No joke, the transition can be scary at first, but it’s really worth it. Our process is much more rigorous than it was before, we have a better traceability of our pillboxes and we have many fewer pillbox errors coming out of the pharmacy (often related to changes not made on the cards).
It was not that much was done, but the returns of pillboxes for correction after delivery to the patient became almost non-existent. As far as productivity is concerned, the printing of pill sheets is done much more quickly and printing errors have become almost non-existent. For the pharmacist, the simple fact of not having to look for patient cards is a great source of time savings. A quick scan and you’re done!
